Artist’s Impression of the Completed Food Storage Warehouse
Title | : | Preparatory Survey and Detailed Design for Improvement of the Capacity of Public Food Storage (Supervision and Technical Assistance are scheduled) |
Period | : | October 2010–October 2014 |
Funded by | : | Japanese Grant Aid and JICA |
Food security is a matter of national importance for the government of Bangladesh, to secure sufficient supplies for the entire population, particularly the poor, in the event of a natural disaster. However, the current capacity of storage facilities is insufficient, which is compounded by losses due to poor temperature, moisture and insect control. Disasters such as cyclones continue to cause massive food shortages and price increases; underlining the dire need to strengthen storage capacity.
Considering the above, we, Kokusai Kogyo undertook a preparatory survey on behalf of the Japanese government, and proposed a plan to establish a multistoried warehouse equipped with air conditioning facilities and other necessary equipment, as well a plan for technical training.
The plan is to be implemented using Japan’s Grant Aid. In addition to completing detailed designs for all of the works, we will supervise the construction and equipment procurement, and give the counterparts technical training in all aspects of operation and maintenance.
The project will:
a) Construct a food storage facility | |
