Kokusai Kogyo’s science-based targets, covering all of its group companies, were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)※1 on September 11, 2021, as GHG emissions reduction goals in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

※1 The SBTi is a global collaboration between CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), working to mobilize businesses and other organizations to set net-zero science-based targets in line with a 1.5°C future.

※2 Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g. the burning of fuel)
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling
Scope 3: All other indirect emissions in the value chain (e.g. by companies other than Kokusai Kogyo)
Kokusai Kogyo has previously signaled support of the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) created by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), and will now commence climate-related disclosure in line with the TCFD framework.
